Vitreous enamelling is the fusing of glass to metal by means of heat. Most people use
copper to start with as it is versatile and relatively cheap. Silver, steel or gold can also be
used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Leith Lapidary Club is a centre of excellence for this technique, with several experienced tutors and enthusiastic members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enamel can be applied to jewellery, panels, bowls, pictures and other objects to add colour and brilliance. The club is well equipped with 3 kilns and all necessary tools. Workshops are held several times a year. These can be for complete beginners or those wishing to learn more advanced techniques. Some are experimental to discover more about the medium and how it behaves in certain circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of our members are also members of The Guild of Enamellers<\/a>, and the club is host to specialist workshops run by the guild’s own members and artists. Have a look the club’s workshops and classes <\/a>for opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
